The air-conditioning can be set on timers to come on in the bedrooms at
night and the lounge area during the day.

In order for the air-con to work effectively (particularly in the lounge), you will need to shut the
doors to the garden and terrace and make sure the kitchen window is not
open. If you shut the door in the kitchen (the one adjoining the front
entrance) and ensure the window is not open, then you will benefit from
air-con in the kitchen too.

High humidity can create a musty smell in the bedrooms in which case setting the Air Conditioners ‘ dry function can clear this.

To turn the Timer OFF, press ‘Timer On’ then ‘CANCEL”.
To turn back on, press ‘Timer On’, then ‘SET’

To use the coffee machine, load the water and press one of the coffee cup buttons before loading your Nespresso capsule. When the button stops blinking carefully load the capsule and lift the arm to lock it in place. Then press the coffee cup button once which should now start
flashing, indicating it’s in progress.

Adjusting Your Measures

Instead of tapping the small or large coffee cup button, hold either button down until you are satisfied with the measure. This will save to the machine’s memory so the next time you only need to tap the button once

From Your Mobile Device

You can connect your radio station or music from your mobile device to the
outside Bose speakers on the terrace.

You can connect your own device using Bluetooth after turning on the
white DENON receiver unit that sits underneath the TV

Direct From the Denon Digital Radio Streamer

Several UK radio stations are pre-programmed into the unit’s Favourites and
others can be found by browsing through the Internet Radio settings.

If plates or crockery have a slight white film after dishwashing, you will need to add salt to the floor compartment in the machine and add rinse aid. I also swish a bit of vinegar on them before
rinsing as this works like magic 🙂

In Spain it is often advisable NOT to drink tap water as it can contain
bacteria and chemicals in it which may cause upset stomachs.

That being said in Javea the water is of good quality. Additionally in the villa the
cold water from the kitchen tap has a drinking water filter fitted
underneath.

The bubbles in the water that you might initially see are just
tiny air bubbles that arise naturally as a result of the filtering process.

Unfortunately, in our experience at least, Spain can be prone to power cuts that tend to arrive in times of particularly bad storms or during periods of Electricity maintenance in the wider area.

You should also be aware that electricity supply to residential properties is tightly restricted and can flip the fusebox when many high consuming units are simultaneously being used.

If you have everything on in the kitchen (kettle, oven, all hob rings, toaster all at once) plus air conditioning you may find the electricity shuts off.

If this happens, if power doesn’t automatically return, you will need to open the fusebox in the kitchen cupboard, flip the main switch on the left down (OFF) and then after 10 seconds flip the switch back up again (ON)

Please take care as the tiles can be slippery when wet.

Do use the bath mats and shower floor mat for safety.

Please note: the water to the shower can take a 30 seconds or so before it runs hot.

We do have a lovely fireplace as an ornamental feature but we request you do not use it.

As it is very hot over here both during the day and the evening over July and August, we are sure that you will not want to use it anyway!

Our gardener will need to come and do the garden during the summer.

If it happens to be during your stay, we will liaise with you and arrange to come over at a time that is convenient to you.

We have a watering system for the trees around the back and sides of the villa – please do not change the settings or the lever, located outside underneath the kitchen window.

The hob is a ceramic hob with some safety features. If it gets wet on the surface it will not turn on and will turn itself off in the event of a large spillage.

The left hand button turns the machine on and then the rest are labelled and you can choose settings from 1-9 (9 being the hottest)

The washing machine is in the en-suite bedroom. For quick reference the
controls translate into English in the image below:

The mosquitos are pretty friendly in Spain during the summer months!

Therefore, in order to enjoy your holiday pest-free, we highly recommend
you invest in some mosquito repellents. We suggest either Autan which you can
obtain from most supermarkets or Halley which is available at the
pharmacies. Halley is a great natural mosquito repellent spray!

The Front Gate / Porch lights contain daylight sensor bulbs that will come on automatically at night. If these don’t turn on, or you would like to turn them off at night, the light switches are inside the kitchen to the left (porch light) and right (front gate light) of the kitchen door.

The Swimming Pool can be lit up at night which creates a gorgeous
ambience. There is a switch on the wall to the right hand side of the
ceramic tiled seat which faces the pool the other side of the pool from the
villa. Please do not leave this on overnight.

The BBQ area has twin lights and fairy lights that can be turned using the
white switches to the left of the BBQ area. Again we would greatly appreciate it
if lights could be turned off when not in use.

The light switch for the raised terrace (with all the seating just outside the dining room) is inside the villa on the arch between the living room and the dining area.

The light to the Dining Room is situated on the wall opposite the desk and between the two large windows overlooking the side of the villa. The curtains can hide them!

The oven is a normal conventional oven. The left hand dial controlling the fan and grill functions and the right hand dial controlling temperature

In the cabinet above the oven you will find a standalone microwave

Unfortunately waste and recycling does not get collected from the door in Spain so you will need to take your rubbish out with you. There are however numerous bins dotted around as highlighted on the map.

We generally use the bins outside the Saladar supermarket as it is generally en route to most destinations and is an easy place to park up.
